ANOTHER FIRE HITS LAGOS BURNING OVER 250 HOUSES IN EBUTTE METTA.

Another fire incident has occured at the water front suburb of Ebuttte Metta in Lagos State, burning down ramshackle houses and workshops as firefighters fought in vain to put it out. The fire was fanned by swirling winds.
The fire started around 5pm yesterday and has not recorded any casualties but dozens of buildings have been burnt to the ground around the sawmill area where timber from different parts of Nigeria are brought to process.
A resident says that more than 250 residences have been burnt down to the ground and since millions of people live closely knit iin that area it is best imagined than seen.

This is a pointer to the poor performance culture of fire fighting in Nigeria.I think the Government should look into the issue of sensitising its citizens to safety measures in residences/office as is obtained in major cities around the world.
We are yet to recover from the exploding firecrackers in Lagos, the burning of 5 children in Kirikiri, Obasanjo's residence as well as the burning of the UBA building in heavily populated Balogun Market. This is a call to order on all of us.
