Photos - First Gay Marriage In France

Thousands of witnesses including a Minister in government witnessed the joining together of the first gay marriage in France of  Vincent Autin 40  and Bruno Boileau 30. The wedding was done under very tight security because of the opposition to gay marriage. A plain cothes Policeman dragged back a man issuing threats who tried to approach the couple. Although the marriage went undisrupted it was not so quiet outside as Police had to use tear gas to dispense the crowd of protesters who gathered behind the City Hall. The two men who gave the witnesses a  lengthy kiss walked hand in hand to the city balcony to wave to well wishers as some smiled and cried as Frank Sinatra's 'Love and Marriage' blasted from the speakers. The Mayor called the event a 'historic moment'.
