A doctor who is facing execution in Sudan for marrying a Christian has given birth in the prison prematurely. She delivered a baby girl today. The baby who was born in the hospital wing of Omdurman Federal Women Prison in North Khartoum. Meriem has spent the last four Months shackled to the floor in a disease ridden jail. Her Lawyer says she plans to call the baby Maya.
Meriem 27 was sentenced to death by hanging earlier this Month after being found guilty of converting from Islam to Christianity and marrying a Christian man US citizen Daniel Wani who lives in Manchester. She will receive 100 lashes before her execution. Meriem has however made a very strong declaration that she will rather die than convert back to Islam. I pray the international community rises to condemn this barbaric act. What a courageous woman! Jesus all the way!
